    Cable:

    These are insulated wires with protective casing and used for transmitting electricity or telecommunication signals. Without these, a proper communication is not imaginable. Copper cable was initially used, but now Fiber optic cable has taken its place.

    Fiber Optic Cable:

    Fiber Optic Cable is a network cable constituting strands of glass fibers inside an insulated casing. The glass cores are surrounded by mirror covering called cladding. Unlike copper a cable which utilizes the electricity to transmit signals, the Fiber Optic Cable uses light pulses to the same function. In Industry these are available as Single mode fiber, Multi-mode fiber, Duplex fiber, Simplex or duplex single mode fiber.     Working of Fiber Optic Cable:

    Total internal reflection is the principle based upon which Fiber Optic Cable works. The Fiber Optic Cable contains one or more glass strands with core as its center. The core act as the light guide thus providing pathway for light to travel. The clad of the cable reflects the light inward such that no signal is lost and light passes through the bends more easily.
